Instrumentation Technician
Staff Role – Oil and Gas Sector

NES Fircroft is collaborating with a prominent player in the oil and gas industry seeking to enhance their team with an Instrumentation Technician.


This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute significantly to a diverse team operating in a dynamic oil field environment.

The facility manages multiple remote well sites, utilizing infield flow lines to transport resources to a central processing station, where various operations such as separation, stabilization, water injection, gas compression, and power generation occur. We are in search of an Instrumentation Technician responsible for the upkeep, repair, and operational assessment of instrumentation equipment and systems, ensuring the effective, dependable, and safe functioning of our production operations.

This role follows a rotational schedule of 4 X 10.5 hr shifts – 06:45/17:15 (starting alternately on a Monday then Tuesday). The working schedule may vary during projects and shutdowns, and overtime may be necessary based on operational needs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team to safely manage and maintain our oilfield in accordance with operational and maintenance protocols. Optimizing plant availability in processing oil from various well sites
  • Conduct maintenance in alignment with company standards and procedures.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance on the following:
    • Safety Systems, Fire & Gas Systems, Flow Measurement Systems
    • Pressure, Temperature, and Level Control
    • Gas Detection
    • DCS Systems
    • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Control Systems
  • Develop and review operational and maintenance protocols
  • Complete Maximo work orders and initiate new work requests to address equipment failures
  • Issue relevant permits within the designated timeframe to ensure efficient maintenance execution.
  • Assist with projects, collaborating with vendors and subcontractors as necessary
  • Adhere to Change Management policies, including Plant Modifications Proposals
  • Utilize Observation Safety Techniques (POST) to report safe and unsafe practices
  • Actively engage in a responsible waste management system
  • Participate in Operations shift meetings
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and promote these principles consistently
There are several Safety Critical Tasks that you will be informed about and systems you will be required to operate competently.

Experience/Qualifications
  • Possess an accredited apprenticeship or an HNC equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas sector is preferred, though candidates from related industries will be considered
  • Experience with ATEX equipment (Compex Training) is advantageous but not mandatory
