Consultant Microbiologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Microbiologist to join our Microbiology department at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing diagnostic services to a wide range of specialties, including trauma and orthopaedics, cardiology, and colorectal surgery services.

• Participate in the clinical microbiology workload, including provision of advice on test interpretation, authorisation of results, and review of patients with clinical teams.
• Contribute to the development of a specialist interest and participate in the varied clinical microbiology workload shared between consultants.
• Work collaboratively with the team to provide a high-quality service, ensuring effective communication and coordination with clinical teams and other stakeholders.

• Clinical training and experience in microbiology, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Microbiology.
• High standard of clinical skill and expertise in clinical microbiology.
• Experience in infection prevention and control, and antibiotic stewardship is desirable.
