Role Overview

As a placement student in civil engineering, you will engage in daily site activities and report to senior engineers. You will collaborate with industry experts to deepen your understanding of your project, and with mentorship and coaching, you will face exciting challenges that will help you build a successful career in this field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake surveys and setting-out on site to ensure accurate project execution
  • Prepare drawings and calculations to ensure quality control and compliance procedures are adhered to for engineering
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure that deadlines are being met and projects are delivered on time
  • Liaise with clients and carry out site investigations to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and other parties involved in the construction project to ensure that all work is completed according to specifications
  • Liaise with quantity surveyors about the ordering and pricing of materials to ensure cost-effectiveness
  • Ensure that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to

Requirements

  • Studying a Civil or Construction/Project Management Degree
  • Hold a full UK driving license
  • Passionate about starting a career in the civils industry
  • High attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in all aspects of engineering and looking for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work flexibly in a team and be a hard worker

We offer a competitive base salary, a wide range of benefits, including a car allowance, payment of an annual professional membership, contributory pensions plan, health shield, and 34 days annual leave. We also provide a living away from home allowance and cover all accommodation costs, provide a daily allowance, and cover travel costs.
