This role is structured for a full-time commitment of 37 hours per week.
Role Responsibilities
As a member of the Defence College of Technical Training (DCTT), you will play a crucial role in crafting training initiatives aimed at transforming RAF personnel into skilled and motivated mechanical technicians.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging training sessions and lessons.
- Creating comprehensive lesson plans and supplementary materials to foster student-centered learning in line with established guidelines.
- Participating in both internal and external evaluation audits as necessary, adhering to the institution's training procedures.
- Upholding standards of conduct, punctuality, discipline, and attire among all students.
- Integrating essential Literacy and Numeracy components into your lessons.
- Providing safety briefings to students regarding their training environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the institution by identifying potential enhancements through the appropriate management channels.
- Preparing adequately before instructional periods to ensure training areas and resources are in optimal condition, reporting any deficiencies as needed.
- Completing mandatory course documentation promptly following the conclusion of training phases.
- Engaging in a minimum of 5 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) annually to meet personal development objectives.
- Ensuring adherence to responsibilities concerning students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
- Conducting additional lessons for trainees as required.
- Serving as a role model by maintaining the highest standards of behavior in accordance with the Defence Trainer Code of Conduct.
- Monitoring student welfare and addressing any concerns through the appropriate management channels.
- Staying current with instructional techniques and arranging for observations by Learning Support staff.
- Assisting in the review of examination questions to ensure validity and accuracy.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, capable of articulating complex concepts to diverse audiences. You should be well-organized, adept at time management, and possess strong public speaking abilities. A proactive approach to assessing group skills and determining necessary training will be essential.
Essential Qualifications:
- Recognized experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in vehicle workshops.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience within a military engineering context.
- Familiarity with mechanical engineering management practices.
- Experience in training delivery and compliance with relevant competency frameworks.
