Job Description

Role Overview

The SEN Learning Support Assistant will play a vital role in providing targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), contributing to their academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with teachers and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials to suit individual needs and abilities.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering positive relationships and promoting a sense of inclusion and belonging.
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management plans and collaborate with the wider school team to create an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is advantageous.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies to support individual needs or willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with SEN.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within the school community.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
