About the Role

As a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in empowering students with special educational needs (SEN) to reach their full potential. You'll work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individualized learning plans and create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with educators to effectively implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
  • Provide individualized or small group support to students, adapting learning materials and strategies to suit diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior management plans, fostering a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere.
  • Build strong relationships with students, promoting a sense of belonging and encouraging their academic and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team to create an inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and supports all learners.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a SEN Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is highly valued, but not essential. A genuine passion for supporting students with SEN is key.
  • A strong understanding of various SEN conditions and effective strategies to support individual needs, or a willingness to learn and develop your knowledge in this area.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with SEN, creating a nurturing and encouraging learning environment.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive school community.
