Software Application Operations Engineer

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Software Application Operations Engineer to oversee and sustain a range of applications across various domains that support Geospatial capabilities.

This role involves collaborating with Core Services and Agile change teams to ensure the operational baseline is preserved, enabling users to access the latest applications to fulfill mission objectives.

Under the guidance of the Technical Lead, you will be responsible for implementing and delivering both minor and major application upgrades within fixed and deployed environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical assistance to clients as required and communicate feedback to our development teams for ongoing maintenance and updates.
  • Collaborate with IT Asset Management and obsolescence teams to acquire vendor information regarding software lifecycles and maintenance agreements.
  • Enhance applications by integrating new technologies and executing upgrades.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests and debugging procedures while refining code and redesigning tasks.
  • Generate innovative ideas for software development based on industry trends.
  • Document development processes, procedures, and application version histories.
  • Stay informed about advancements in application engineering and emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated experience as an Application Engineer or in a comparable role.
  • Proficient in deploying, optimizing, and maintaining software applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Relevant training and/or certifications in Application Engineering.
  • Familiarity with Virtualized Environments such as VMware and Hyper-V; knowledge of Windows Server Environments, including OS build, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy from design to implementation and support.
