Position Overview:
Menzies Distribution is on the lookout for a skilled Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Class 1 Operator to become a vital part of our team. This position entails delivering exceptional service while performing shunting responsibilities.

Position Details:

  • Annual Salary: £30,798.50 / Hourly Rate: £16.92
Work Schedule: 4 Days On, 4 Days Off, Operating Hours: 19:00-05:00 / Average Weekly Hours: 35
Annual Leave: 20 Days, Onsite Parking, Monthly Compensation

Shunting Responsibilities:

  • Perform safety inspections on vehicles and trailers
  • Guarantee secure loading of vehicles
  • Verify and accept load documentation
  • Maintain communication with the Traffic Office
  • Ensure cleanliness of the vehicle and operate it safely
  • Adhere to safe working practices
  • Contribute to delivering quality service to clients
  • Manage rachet, strap, and corners effectively

Operator Requirements:

  • Valid UK C+E license with a minimum of 12 months Class 1 driving experience
  • Previous experience in shunting (preferred)
  • Maximum of 6 penalty points on license, no prior disqualifications
  • Strong understanding of driver hours and regulations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks
