About the Role

Safran Seats is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in the UK. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for managing a team of design engineers to provide design solutions from initial concept through to manufacture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and detail modeling of various suite components to meet program requirements
  • Develop designs that meet specified cost/weight targets
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers
  • Participate in design reviews throughout each phase of the new product introduction process
  • Select and apply materials and processes appropriate to each design element
  • Ensure the successful integration of each design element within the product as a whole
  • Check engineering packages
  • Participate in the validation of the product using methods such as prototyping, testing, and design for manufacturability
  • Follow and contribute to the development of best practice guidelines
  • Perform tasks outside of normal duties as requested by immediate supervisors

Our in-house design team collaborates with airline customers and partners to co-create innovative experiences in the sky. We have dedicated engineering, production, and in-service support facilities that deliver high-end quality products throughout the life of the program. Our team is supported by a wide range of functions, including HR, finance, business development, and logistics.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level in an engineering capacity
  • Experience working in mechanical design, with all industries considered
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Experience using CAD software, with CATIA V5 desirable but other software considered
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
