Job Overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Booking Clerk to join its busy elective outpatient booking service. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in improving the efficiency of the service and enhancing the patient experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality booking service to all Trust-wide clinics, ensuring accurate and timely appointment scheduling.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of outpatient clinics, including protocols and standards for each specialty.
  • Handle patient and GP queries, making appointments and amendments as required.
  • Ensure efficient telephone service, minimizing short notice cancellations and optimizing clinic capacity.
  • Implement a patient-focused booking program to enhance the patient experience.

Person Specification
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Experience of working in a high-volume patient contact centre, ideally in an acute hospital environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
