Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our client's team in Bedfordshire. As a Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for providing electrical and mechanical support and repairs for all production equipment and site services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide electrical and mechanical support and repairs for all production equipment and site services.
  • Fixing production machinery, mixers, industrial processing equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, automation and controls, PLCs, SCADA Systems, robots.
  • Supporting the engineering shift managers with project work - new machine and production line installs.
  • PPMs, electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving, machine upgrades.
  • PLC - electrical fault finding.
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, machining and welding to make parts and repairs.
  • Work as part of a weekend call-out/standby rota when needed.
Requirements:
  • Must be a multi-skilled engineer (electrical and mechanical).
  • Apprenticeship trained or a time-served engineering with mechanical and electrical qualifications.
  • Be a health and safety and quality conscious engineer.
  • Must have previously worked in FMCG or packaging manufacturing.
  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault finding and problem solving skills.
  • PLC - electrical fault finding - Siemens.
  • Experience of carrying out CI projects, new machine installations.
  • Experienced in planning and scheduling PPM work.
  • Must be happy covering a weekend call-out/standby cover when needed.
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding and machining skills beneficial.
