Position Overview

As an Experienced Landscape Gardener, your responsibilities will include the care, cultivation, and upkeep of the client's gardens and landscapes.

You will engage in practical conservation efforts and general maintenance tasks, safeguarding and enhancing the conservation status while performing repairs and renewals of estate infrastructure to ensure safety and functionality.

Your duties will encompass mowing, hedge trimming, plant care, and tree establishment activities for designated garden areas, as well as mentoring apprentices and volunteers, aiding in their training by sharing your expertise.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate and maintain various countryside machinery and equipment
  • Assist with winter maintenance tasks, including road gritting and snow removal
  • Implement and advocate for sustainable gardening practices to boost biodiversity
  • Interact with visitors, providing information and ensuring their safety and enjoyment
  • Collaborate with the Estates Team in planning and scheduling work
Candidate Profile

To qualify for the role of Experienced Landscape Gardener, you should possess:

  • Proven practical horticultural experience
  • Proficiency in safely operating a variety of garden machinery, including ride-on mowers, tractors, hedge trimmers, strimmers, and leaf blowers
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations
  • Strong plant knowledge, particularly regarding shrubs, herbaceous, and bulbous plants
  • Familiarity with horticultural plant and machinery operations
  • A formal horticultural qualification, such as an NVQ Level 2 in amenity horticulture or RHS (or equivalent experience)
  • A full, valid driving license
