Job Title: Assistant Commercial Finance Manager

South Kesteven District Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Commercial Finance Manager to join their team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and management to the Council's Finance services, including accountancy, payroll, exchequer, governance, risk, internal audit partnership, and procurement.

As a key member of the Corporate Management Team, the post holder will work closely with Cabinet Members to deliver a transformational and ambitious growth agenda in the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategy and policies.
  • Provide professional expertise to the finance and revenues service and corporate management team.
  • Manage and monitor budgets, ensuring effective financial management and control.
  • Develop and lead an efficient, effective, and modern finance service, guiding and managing the operation and activities of the Finance, Audit, and Procurement teams.
  • Embed and lead a modern, forward-thinking approach to financial management across the organisation, including developing a profit and loss culture and improving financial understanding and agility at all levels.
Requirements
  • CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant.
  • Experience of leading a professional finance department or business unit in a local government environment or multifunctional commercial organisation.
  • Ability to manage change, including supporting teams in a positive, influential, and resilient way while taking customer impact into account.
  • Experience of advising and supporting Director level officers and members on financial issues.
  • Current driving licence or ability to make suitable alternative arrangements.
