Culture Guru is seeking an Environmental Consultant/Advisor to join a well-respected property development organization.
The Environmental Consultant will manage environmental and resource strategies across multiple project sites, providing essential support to project teams in meeting environmental goals. This role includes frequent site visits to conduct assessments, ensuring adherence to legal standards and the company's protocols, while accurately gathering necessary data.
As part of the sustainability team, the consultant will be tasked with compiling and organizing data for the department, aiding in performance monitoring, generating reports, and communicating project results within the team.
A key aspect of this position is collaborating closely with project teams to integrate environmental requirements and enhance the ecological performance of construction sites. The role also offers the chance to improve daily environmental practices associated with construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting regular site inspections to assess compliance with the internal environmental management system, preparing comprehensive reports on environmental performance, and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are secured to meet environmental regulations.
- Accurately collecting, analyzing, and reporting data (such as waste volumes and utility usage) to evaluate progress towards sustainability targets.
- Working with construction project teams to boost site performance by advising and supporting site champions, developing guidance documents, and engaging with project teams to discuss outcomes.
- Contributing to the broader divisional sustainability team to advocate for best practices and fulfill commitments.
- Staying updated on new environmental regulations and best practice guidelines, assessing their potential implications for the company or projects.
- Proactively seeking to enhance performance and foster innovation by collaborating with management and all staff.
- Raising awareness of environmental management through both formal and informal training for project teams.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- A valid driver's license is required due to the nature of site visits.
- A background in the construction sector or environmental management, complemented by a relevant degree.
- Experience in key areas such as energy efficiency, waste and resource management, and environmental oversight.
- Understanding of environmental challenges specific to the construction and housing sectors.
- Strong skills in data analysis and management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and inspire behavioral change.
