Position Overview

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is in search of a fixed-term consultant in pediatric medicine, specializing in pediatric obesity and mental health. This role involves providing on-call support to the acute pediatric service and assisting with both inpatient and outpatient pediatric activities.

This position will contribute to the Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service, a specialized initiative aimed at addressing pediatric obesity. Previous experience with this patient demographic is not mandatory; however, candidates eager to enhance their expertise in this field post-CCT are encouraged to consider this opportunity. The role is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes professionals such as psychologists, dieticians, physiotherapists, specialist nurses, social workers, family support workers, and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in pediatric respiratory medicine, general pediatric medicine, surgery, and neonatology to deliver respiratory care to both inpatients and outpatients at the hospital.

The on-call duties for acute pediatrics and pediatric medicine are managed by a team of consultants across various departments, including the children's emergency department, assessment unit, and inpatient wards.

This role entails commitments to acute general pediatric on-call duties and participation in general pediatric clinics, including those focused on patients under the age of two.
