Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon

At JMW Farms Ltd, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in Armagh. As a key member of our veterinary practice, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and welfare of our animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Animal Welfare is maintained at all times.
  • Advising and supporting the team in regards to the law surrounding animal welfare.
  • Managing Health Management across our farms.
  • Examining and observing animals to diagnose health problems and assess their health, testing for disease and carrying out post-mortems of pigs.
  • Advising on Animal Nutrition and Dietary recommendations.
  • Responsible for developing and rolling out Health Plans across all farms.
  • Analysing trends Production Statistics from the Company's software programmes and making recommendations when required.
  • Ensuring implementation and adherence to the Red Tractor standards regarding Animal Health and Welfare.
  • Ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are maintained.
  • Complying with all Policies and Procedures including Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
Requirements:
  • Qualified MRCVS experience Vet or recent Graduate.
  • Experience in working with large livestock.
  • Experience in post-mortems, taking samples and treatments.
  • Excellent communication Skills.
  • Ability to manage one's own time effectively.
  • A team player but can also work to their own initiative.
  • Positive can-do attitude along with the willingness to learn quickly within a changing environment.
  • Full clean drivers' licence.
Desirable:
  • Experience with working with pigs.
  • Good understanding of monogastric production systems.
  • Experience in post-mortems, taking samples and treatments.
  • Familiar with VMD requirements for running a Veterinary Practice.
  • Understanding of Red Tractor and associated certification standards.
  • Experience in working within a fast-paced environment.
