Head of Theatrical Licensing and Creative Growth

Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, assess, and secure new theatrical works for licensing and related rights.
- Prepare representation contracts for new acquisitions and work closely with the business affairs team on negotiation processes.
- Foster and maintain connections with playwrights, composers, lyricists, agents, attorneys, and producers within the European theatre sector.
- Participate in the strategic growth of Concord Theatricals as a member of the management team.
- Oversee the London-based Acquisitions and Artistic Development team while providing guidance to the North American team on new acquisitions and author/estate relations.
- Work in tandem with Licensing and Marketing teams to develop promotional strategies for new titles.
- Collaborate with Client Relations, Publications, and Marketing to enhance the promotion and revitalization of the back catalog.
- Support the commissioning and artistic progression of new works for licensing and potential premier productions.
- Engage with Concord Originals (film/TV/new media) for the artistic development of new projects utilizing Theatricals writers and intellectual property.
Specific Duties:
- Regularly attend significant productions of new shows and revivals in London, as well as occasionally in Europe and the United States.
- Occasional travel to the New York office to view new productions and engage with clients regarding acquisitions.
- Assess, recommend, and negotiate new agreements.
- Draft acquisition and commission contracts specific to the UK.
- Oversee commissions and creative development initiatives originating from the UK office.
- Participate in meetings and conference calls as necessary.
- Execute all responsibilities typical of a supervisory position, ensuring effective staff training, conducting interviews, evaluating staff performance, and making recommendations for hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, and terminations as appropriate.
Qualifications for Success:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in theatrical licensing, literary management, artistic production, or literary agency.
- Extensive knowledge of play and musical development and production in the UK and Europe.
- Familiarity with theatrical contracts, including representation agreements and stock and amateur licensing agreements.
- Understanding of intellectual property law.
- Strong relationships with playwrights, composers, lyricists, and their representatives.
- High level of diplomacy and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple complex contractual issues simultaneously.
- A bachelor's degree in theatre, English, arts administration, or a related discipline.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
