Quality Assurance Manager

Scantec Recruitment is in search of a Quality Assurance Manager to become a vital part of our Senior Leadership Team within a prominent FMCG Manufacturer. This role will focus on executing the organization's technical and quality framework to maintain a state of readiness for audits. The successful candidate will oversee the management of product safety, authenticity, legality, and quality.
This position is site-based, requiring a local commute.
Experience in Dairy, Soups, Sauces, or thermal processing and microbiological practices is essential, along with a background in conducting BRC audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the technical team to achieve the site’s business objectives.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure effective recruitment, retention, and development of technical personnel.
- Develop and execute an annual training and succession strategy.
- Ensure comprehensive and effective annual performance reviews are conducted.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development support.
- Oversee the performance management of the technical department.
- Foster multi-skilled capabilities to enhance business support.
- Work collaboratively to create, communicate, and implement the site’s Food Safety & Quality Culture plan.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the technical team by introducing best practices and innovative ideas.
- Assist the Process Technologist in developing and leading site initiatives.
- Enhance site efficiencies through quality improvement projects.
- Partner with SHE to ensure training is up-to-date and reflects the company’s strong health and safety principles.
- Adhere to and enforce food safety, quality, health & safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Manage financial budget commitments effectively.
- Oversee activities that guarantee the food safety, authenticity, legality, and quality of products.
- Provide technical governance and reporting to the senior management team.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company standards, customer requirements, and good manufacturing practices, in collaboration with the central technical function.
- Engage with peers across sites to standardize and share best practices.
- Develop and implement the site’s food safety strategy, promoting it among the management team.
- Ensure technical quality and best practices are upheld through training and promotion across the site.
- Train, verify, and support production teams in recipe management, yield optimization, testing, and sample analysis.
- Conduct incident investigations, including risk assessments.
- Support independent audits throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in a relevant field and have experience in Dairy Manufacturing, along with a proficient understanding of dairy and food microbiology. Familiarity with multiple retailers is preferred, as well as certifications in Level 3 Food Hygiene and Level 4 HACCP. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite is also required.
