Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for carrying out a range of day-to-day maintenance, caretaking, and grounds maintenance duties within the home, including minor repairs and redecoration. The post holder will liaise closely with the Home Manager to prioritize work and ensure all duties are carried out to a high standard.

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  • Carry out all aspects of grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, care of beds, plants, weeding, edging, and maintenance of outbuildings as required.
  • Work in other locations/care homes and collaborate with colleagues as operational needs dictate.
  • Undertake internal cyclical redecoration.
  • Perform maintenance repairs and remedial works as identified and within the post holder's competence.
  • Monitor and report defects for repair, including heating and lighting equipment.
  • Support management with testing of fire alarm, call alarm systems, and emergency lighting systems.
  • Conduct routine H&S monitoring, inspections, and audits in the care home in accordance with policy.
  • Complete and maintain records, including TMV inspections, PAT testing, and Legionella risk assessments.
  • Assist with moving furniture and goods' deliveries to maintain the smooth running of the home.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in carrying out maintenance duties and day-to-day repairs, possibly in a trade capacity.
  • Awareness of and sympathy for the needs of elderly people with varying degrees of dependency.
  • Flexibility in approach to work and ability to work as part of a team.
