We are a leading Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the region, dedicated to providing exceptional care for critically ill and complex neonates. Our unit is equipped with advanced ventilatory support technologies, ensuring the highest standards of care in the delivery room.
Our facility offers specialized treatments, including Cooling Therapy and Nitric Oxide Therapy, for the most vulnerable infants. We also feature a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) that allows mothers to stay with their babies until discharge. Additionally, we are proud to operate the regional Neonatal Transport Service .
We are seeking a Band 7 nurse who is eager to take on a leadership role in a dynamic environment where every team member contributes significantly. As a Band 7 nurse, you will serve as a mentor, guiding nurses as they advance through their professional development. You will also take on managerial responsibilities, supporting the Band 8 nurse and ensuring alignment with the unit's objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other Unit Sisters to oversee the operational management and service delivery within the Neonatal and Special Care Unit, including line management of ward staff and resource management within budgetary constraints.
- Champion a quality service through research and evidence-based practices, setting and monitoring clinical standards.
- Serve as the clinical lead on a shift basis, ensuring safe staffing levels across the Paediatric Division.
- This role requires flexibility to work both day and night shifts.

Job Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership and Practice Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise high standards of nursing practice and evidence-based patient care in accordance with professional conduct codes and organizational policies.
- Act as an advocate for neonates and contribute to the corporate nursing agenda.
- Maintain and enhance personal clinical competencies and serve as a source of expertise within the unit.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention policies and promote health education for patients and their families.
- Implement research and evidence-based practices to improve patient care standards.
Management Responsibilities
- Act as deputy for the Matron in their absence, addressing complaints and incidents in collaboration with the governance team.
- Participate in recruitment and retention strategies for nursing staff.
- Manage ward operations in line with budgetary requirements and promote effective resource utilization.
Education and Development
- Foster a supportive learning environment for all staff and ensure educational objectives are met.
