Job Summary

FRS Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Financial Controller to join their team. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for leading a small team of accountants and providing support to the Group Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team
  • Provide additional ad hoc support to the Group Financial Controller and Ledger Supervisor
  • Drive new ways of working and continually improve the ledger function's processes and procedures
  • Act as key contact during the year-end audit, completing evidence requests and undertaking relevant process walkthroughs
  • Verify accuracy of VAT treatment, including subcontractor certificates, prior to being posted
  • Provide clear instructions and ensure timely completions of postings by Ledger team
  • Ensure HMRC compliance, and that returns & payments are complete and paid to correct time scales
  • Prepare CIS reconciliation, returns & payments
  • Ongoing monitoring of Group Cash position to ensure compliance with Group Treasury policies
  • Liaise and collaborate with relevant Commercial colleagues and Finance Business Partners to ensure Group and individual subsidiary headroom's are maintained
  • Coordinate and production of balance sheet rec for Cashbook, VAT, CIS accounts
  • Liaison with Commercial teams to oversee House Sale statements and alignment with sales ledger
  • Responsible for managing the cashbook
  • Undertake bank reconciliations, actively exploring ways to streamline this process
  • Tracking and communicating to correct people Housing Association retention monies

Requirements

  • High level of understanding of VAT treatment in Construction
  • Able to work to strict deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Contribute as a manager, role model the company values and behaviours
  • Passion for our homes, products and developing junior colleagues
  • Drive and enthusiasm to contribute to a high performing team with the right procedures and processes in place
  • Professional and knowledgeable with the ability to build trust and credibility with people
  • Have a keen eye for detail and to be able to be flexible and prioritise own workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels both internal and external to the business
