Senior Lawyer Property Litigation Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Litigation Lawyer to join our Wealth Management team in Birmingham. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal advice and support to our Wealth Management business, working closely with our lawyers in London, Zurich, and Frankfurt.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on the legal and regulatory framework for our Wealth Management transaction-focused businesses.
- Work with our product specialists to advise on documentation and transactions related to securities and asset-based lending, with opportunities to advise on structured products and derivatives.
- Stay up-to-date on the current regulatory regime in the EU and UK, working with internal and external counsel in other jurisdictions, and provide product-based advice on pre- and post-insolvency enforceability for securities and asset-based lending.
- Support our Private Wealth Advisors on all aspects of the client relationship, from pitches to structuring accounts, negotiating transaction documentation, and providing support on transaction-specific questions and new products.
- Advise our senior WM Management on lending and trading issues, including new products and initiatives, business transformation projects, significant transactions, and the impact of regulation.
- Collaborate with our WM Compliance professionals on a wide range of lending and trading issues, such as interpretation of regulations, significant transactions, account activity, and surveillance.
- Implement regulations affecting our transaction businesses, introducing new policies in response to new legislation and revising current policies to meet the needs of the business.
- Work with other lawyers in the Goldman Sachs Legal Division globally on specific product or other issues, such as employment and litigation.
Requirements
- We are targeting qualified lawyers in the 2-4 years PQE range, although we would also consider candidates with a different experience profile.
- Candidates should have relevant post-qualification experience, either with a reputable law firm or as in-house counsel.
- Good English language skills are essential, and knowledge of another major European language would be a plus.
