Overview

Microsoft Azure's Global Optical Network is the backbone of our cloud infrastructure, enabling seamless interaction with Azure services worldwide. As a vital component of this network, Azure Fiber is dedicated to designing, building, and operating the Global Optical Network, ensuring high-quality, secure, and reliable connectivity to all Microsoft services.

Responsibilities
  • Operate specialist manufacturing equipment to fabricate novel optical fibers, including glass preform manufacture and optical fiber drawing.
  • Meet production targets to support the scaling up of our new fabrication facility and meet customer demand.
  • Collaborate with engineers and lab managers to validate manufacturing equipment and perform quality inspections.
  • Document daily progress and record manufacturing throughput, including data analysis to identify bugs, defects, or failure rates.
Requirements
  • Relevant technical experience or formal training in a technical trade, such as machinist or electrician.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant technical experience or formal training in a technical trade, with relevant experience in a similar industry.
