Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled cardiac physiologist to become a vital part of our growing team. Our department specializes in a variety of intricate invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures, including Transthoracic and Transoesophageal Echocardiography, Angiograms/PCI, pacemaker/ICD/CRT-p implants, and Electrophysiology studies. As a member of our team, you will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, and we are committed to supporting our staff in enhancing their skills to pursue IBHRE, BHRS, or BSE certifications.
Main Responsibilities
Provide expert physiologist support during complex device implants, including permanent pacemakers and implantable loop recorders. Analyze intricate data and determine when to adjust parameters according to manufacturer and departmental guidelines during device follow-up clinics. Take on a specialized physiologist role within the invasive PCI service located in the Cardiac Catheter Lab. Conduct unsupervised monitoring of cardiac hemodynamics and invasive intra-cardiac pressures on high-risk cardiac patients, ensuring immediate communication with the physician regarding any parameter changes. Prepare and manage balloon pump equipment for intra-aortic balloon insertion.
Act as the lead physiologist for Cardiac Physiologist-led Exercise Tolerance Tests (ETTs). Independently analyze and report the results of these tests in line with national and departmental protocols. Provide physiologist support during medically supervised ETTs.
Prepare, connect, remove, download, and analyze recordings from 24-hour Ambulatory ECG recorders, Blood Pressure monitors, and Cardiac Event recorders, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures. Perform Electrocardiograms on all patient categories, interpreting results and notifying the relevant physician of any concerning abnormalities according to departmental protocols.
Be responsible for setting up equipment and conducting Tilt table testing for medically and physiologist-supervised investigations. Provide physiologist support during complex device implants, analyzing complex data and recognizing when to reprogram parameters as per established policies for individual patients during follow-up clinics.
Assume designated responsibilities for performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation on patients in emergency situations.
