Principal Electrical Design Engineer

Scantec Personnel Limited invites applications for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their mission-driven team dedicated to accelerating the energy transition worldwide.

About the Role

This is a hybrid role with visits to client sites, offering a dynamic career management policy and the opportunity to work on exciting, global projects that make a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Infrastructure Design Substantiation documents.
  • Handle design changes and concessions.
  • Present design substantiations to safety committees.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to nuclear/high-risk environments.
  • Justify civil/structural design modifications.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of current design standards and practices, including British & European Standards.
  • Theoretical and practical skills across concept, detailed design, and construction stages for electrical engineering projects.
  • Experience in assessing electrical plant and equipment for hazards.
  • Specifying electrical systems/components for HV & LV networks at 50Hz & 60Hz.
  • Authoring technical justifications for electrical design modifications in high hazard industries.
  • Familiarity with industrial machinery like pumps, generators, HVAC, SCADA, PAVA Systems, etc.
  • Experience in multi-discipline projects providing electrical engineering input, especially in industrial/maritime sectors.
  • Worked in the UK nuclear industry (energy or defence), especially in safety-related structures, systems, and components.
  • Knowledge of UK and US nuclear industry regulations, and application of nuclear-specific codes and standards.
Additional Information
  • BEng in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Safety case related training.
