We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Biomedical Scientist to join our team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust. As a Biomedical Scientist, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of medical research.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Dissecting and examining surgical specimens to provide accurate and detailed reports
- Selecting and freezing representative tissue samples for histopathology reports
- Using digital dictation systems to create macro descriptions of samples
- Maintaining highly developed skills and experience in dissection and examination of bone and soft tissue surgical specimens
- Ensuring all specimens for decalcification are monitored regularly and processed as soon as possible
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A BSc degree or equivalent in biological/biomedical sciences or a related subject
- Experience of carrying out routine laboratory tasks by following SOPs
- Understanding of basic Health and Safety in healthcare/laboratory environments
- Awareness of the Human Tissue Authority (HTA)
- Experience of working in a customer-facing environment
