We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to become a vital member of our portering teams at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a Patient Transfer Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients throughout the healthcare facility. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with the collection of medical specimens and necessary equipment.
This is a full-time role, with working hours scheduled from Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be part of the Operational Portering Team, providing essential patient movement services and assisting in the management of both clinical and non-clinical waste for the Trust.
Under the guidance of a supervisor, you will deliver a high-quality front-of-house portering service that supports various departments and facilities. It is essential to maintain a courteous and compassionate demeanor towards patients and all service users.

Job Duties
- Safely transporting patients using wheelchairs, trolleys, or beds.
- Moving deceased patients to the designated area.
- Changing medical gas cylinders as necessary.
- Escorting patients and visitors as required.
- Collecting and disposing of waste, including clinical waste generated by the facility.
- Rotating through various portering duties and departments to meet service delivery needs.
- Responding promptly to requests to ensure service level agreements are met.
- Assisting during emergency situations, including crash and fire calls.
- Occasionally mentoring new staff members during their induction.
- Understanding departmental operations to facilitate smooth workflow and prioritize tasks.
- Ensuring all equipment is clean and safe for patient use, including sanitizing between uses.
- May be required to serve as a link operator during staff shortages.
