Job Summary: Venn Group is seeking a skilled Locum Housing Disrepair Lawyer to join a Public Sector Organisation in the Midlands. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working within a Local Authority and a broad working understanding of Housing Litigation and Disrepair matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake all aspects of legal work relating to Housing Disrepair, including managing cases at all stages of Pre-Litigation/Litigation.
  • Have conduct of Section 82 Environmental Protection Act 1990 cases and ensure compliance with the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol.
  • Advise on the management of risk on complex and contentious legal issues and represent the Council in court and conduct advocacy where appropriate.
  • Negotiate and draft complex and sensitive agreements and documents in the area of Housing Disrepair and provide clear case strategy on cases.
  • Assess evidence in relation to Housing disrepair matters and determine the likely prospects of success and the public interest in prosecuting matters.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working within a Local Authority.
  • Broad working understanding of Housing Litigation and Disrepair matters.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • An attractive hourly rate of up to £50 per hour Umbrella, dependent on experience.
