About the Organisation

Hays Specialist Recruitment is proud to support our client, a dynamic charity with a strong commitment to promoting health and activity through sport. With an annual income of just over £4 million, the organisation relies on government funding to support its mission-driven programmes. The finance team is small, consisting of two members, including the Head of Finance and Finance Officer.

The Role

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Head of Finance to join our client's team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations and driving improvements in financial processes. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Overseeing the year-end process, annual budget setting, and external audits.
  2. Producing monthly management accounts, reports, and variance analysis.
  3. Collaborating with the COO on reporting for the Finance Sub Committee (FSC), Board, Strategy Implementation and Impact Sub Committee (SIISC), and Senior Leadership Team.
  4. Providing budget holders with the financial information needed to effectively deliver their work.
  5. Leading on financial planning, including developing a 3-5 year financial strategy.

  1. Salary: £55,000 - £60,000
  2. 28 days' holiday + 8 public holidays + 5 volunteer days + Christmas closure
