About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Value Stream Team Leader to provide leadership to the shift teams and oversee Value Stream production and processes. As a Value Stream Shift Leader, you will be accountable for meeting safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Directly impact the deployment of business strategy and foster strong working relationships with other departments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Play a crucial part in promoting continuous development across the organisation.
  • Operational Excellence: As a Value Stream Shift Leader, you will be accountable for meeting safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets.
  • Culture and Collaboration: Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement and Lean approaches.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with the Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams.
  • Shift Leadership: Shift leadership of a value stream team.
  • Representation: Represent the value streams to customers or other external visitors.
  • Compliance: Participate in compliance audits supporting the maintenance of external accreditations.
  • Strategy and Planning: Contribute to creating and implementing a best practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Initiatives and Projects: Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Manufacturing activities.
  • Personal Development: Undertake continuous training and development.

Requirements:

  • Education: An engineering degree, apprenticeship in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience is advantageous.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma Green belt or equivalent.
  • Experience: Experience managing and developing technicians and technical staff within a relevant manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Recognises, inspires, and motivates the team to contribute to the wider business objectives and implements actions and opportunities to continuously develop staff, individually and as a team.
  • Communication Skills: Open to fresh ways of working and innovative in suggesting new ideas and possible solutions. Able to communicate enthusiasm for a subject to others.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of manufacturing methods as they apply to a high technology, high complexity, low volume manufacturer.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT skills.
  • Planning and Organisation: Plans effectively to meet business objectives. Puts in place monitoring processes and makes appropriate adjustments when progress is not as planned or when requirements change.
  • Time Management: Plans own time to maximum effect, delegating responsibility and authority appropriately.
  • Teamwork: Co-operates effectively with and makes a significant contribution to the wider Management team.
