About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Integration Development Manager to join our Digital Support Team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our integrated digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of integration solutions, hosted within the Trust Integration Engine (TIE), in association with relevant system suppliers and IM&T staff.
  • Manage and support the interfaces developed within the TIE, ensuring all interfaces are protected by adopting Trust standard processes such as Change Management and appropriate security, backup, and housekeeping procedures, with supporting documentation.
  • Provide first and second-line technical support for TIE-developed interfaces and, where required, escalate issues to system suppliers.
  • Provide interfacing expertise and serve as a key liaison between system suppliers and Trust IM&T personnel, providing assistance in defining system integration requirements.
  • Support and enhance new and existing interfaces written in current and future standards, including HL7, JSON, XML, ITK, FHIR, fixed, and variable length formats, and ODBC, CACHE databases, and SQL.
  • Assist in the preparation and execution of system user acceptance testing (UAT) plans in relation to interfacing/integration system testing.
  • Ensure any developments are fully tested to a standard where data integrity is maintained and in accordance with security and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in data quality initiatives to improve the data on information systems used within the Trust.
  • Work with other Trust teams in the development and maintenance of existing Information systems.

Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Educated to degree level or equivalent or able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Specialist qualification in IM&T or ITIL.

Knowledge and Awareness

  • Essential:
    • An excellent knowledge of confidentiality and data security.
    • Awareness of FHIR.
    • Awareness of concepts behind a Health Information Exchange (EPR).
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge and awareness of different systems used within an NHS Trust.
    • Awareness of integration engines, eg Mirth and Rhapsody.
    • Awareness of regional collaborations for using clinical systems.
    • Awareness of current regional integration projects.

Skills and Abilities

  • Essential:
    • Ability to learn and develop skills further.
    • Resolve second-line support problems.
    • Ability to prioritise workload.
    • Able to liaise with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience:
    • Essential:
      • Experience of CACHE Databases and SQL.
      • Experience of ObjectScript and Transformations.
      • Experience of ITK HL7 messages and FHIR.
      • Recent experience of working with Intersystems Healthshare HealthConnect or Ensemble or IRIS.
      • Experience of testing interfaces and debugging code.
      • Previous work experience in the NHS.
      • Previous experience of managing staff.
      • Supporting Trust-wide clinical systems.
      • Significant knowledge of working practices/areas where clinical systems are used.
      • Working with suppliers.
      • Defining user requirements and interpreting them to system suppliers.
    • Desirable:
      • Knowledge of project methodology.
      • Knowledge of NHS data definitions, standards, and ability to interpret NHS policy and provide advice and guidance.
