Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a school in West Drayton. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching staff to develop and provide quality learning for pupils with special education needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the lead teacher in enabling each pupil to access their curriculum.
  • Engage with playground activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
  • Implement a plan provided by the school to support the pupil's education and development.
  • Support and encourage the development of pupil's education, including literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Build relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Look after pupils' physical, emotional, and social welfare, including ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Keep records and attend review meetings to monitor progress and plan future support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to share information and involve them in their child's education.
  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils as needed, using strategies to promote engagement and motivation.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with SEN pupils, preferably in a school setting.
  • Friendly and compassionate approach to working with children and adults.
  • Patient and understanding attitude, with a willingness to adapt to individual needs.
  • Resilient and able to manage challenging situations.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of SEN needs, with a commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and parents.
  • Confident working in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, with a willingness to take initiative and lead activities.
