Position: Kitchen Manager

Work Schedule: 4 days per week, term time only, plus 4 cleaning days.

Hours: 28 hours per week (Monday - Thursday) from 7am to 2:30pm.

Salary: Grade 5 (SCP £24,294 - £25,979 FTE), Actual Salary - £15,373 – £16,440.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Kitchen Manager to lead a dedicated team of catering assistants in providing a top-notch catering service for our students, serving up to 300 children. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in food service, preferably within an educational environment, although this is not a strict requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare menus on a half-termly basis (3-week cycle) that includes diverse and vegetarian options.
  • Cook meals according to established recipes and procedures.
  • Implement and adhere to food safety management protocols.
  • Oversee health and safety standards within the kitchen.
  • Ensure the dining area is properly arranged for service.
  • Supervise meal service and manage kitchen staff effectively.
  • Identify training needs and foster staff development.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and equipment training for kitchen personnel.
  • Encourage teamwork and motivate staff.
  • Perform regular food stock assessments and manage inventory.
  • Order supplies and ensure proper handling and storage of deliveries.
  • Monitor supplier performance and communicate any issues to the Trust Catering Manager.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment and adhere to cleaning schedules and COSHH guidelines.
  • Complete necessary administrative tasks and maintain records.

Qualifications:

  • Possess a Level 3 Food Safety award or be willing to obtain one.
  • Comply with health and hygiene legislation.
  • Exhibit flexibility and readiness to assist with additional duties as directed.
  • Be open to attending training sessions.
