Job Overview

Are you interested in contributing to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and supporting the Defence Estate? DIO plays a crucial role in enabling Defence operations with a focus on sustainability. This role is structured for a full-time commitment of 37 hours per week.

Role Responsibilities

We seek an experienced professional in programme management and project execution who is eager to advance their career. The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and guide a team in executing their designated programme within established timelines and budgets, collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to foster innovative solutions as the programme evolves.
  • Oversee the Defence-wide Single Living Accommodation (SLA) Programmatic Approach, which focuses on delivering new, purpose-built housing to meet the needs of military personnel.
  • Engage with all Commands to implement a strategic delivery framework, identifying demand and creating an efficient pipeline; collaborate with industry partners and Defence subject matter experts to standardize designs.
  • Drive the implementation of effective procurement strategies that will realize the anticipated benefits of the programme, including the adoption of modern construction methods.

This position is exclusively full-time and not available for part-time or job-sharing arrangements.

Key Duties

  • Implement, manage, and deliver an assigned programme of work, providing strong leadership, prioritizing tasks across budget areas, and managing risks, issues, and dependencies while reporting on progress and performance.
  • Manage a network of suppliers, fostering collaborative working relationships aligned with performance indicators and the relations charter, and execute additional procurement activities as necessary.
  • Assess requirements for professional services and oversee the selection and performance of contractors to meet commercial and delivery standards.
  • Resolve issues, coordinate efforts, and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, providing detailed reports on programme operations and performance to enhance understanding and benefits realization.
  • Develop and evaluate Business Cases, ensuring compliance with required standards to facilitate programme and project delivery.
  • Monitor financial integrity and adherence to processes across all programmes within your responsibility, taking corrective actions as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

In addition to a competitive salary of £57,670, the Ministry of Defence contributes £15,571 towards your membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Other benefits include:

Where operational needs permit, some roles may allow for a mix of office and remote work. This arrangement is non-contractual, with a minimum expectation of 60% office attendance, subject to capacity and necessary adjustments. Travel to other locations for official duties will also count towards this attendance requirement.

Note: The position does not offer relocation expenses.

New external recruits to the MOD who are entering the Civil Service will undergo a six-month probation period.

Travel expenses for interviews will not be reimbursed.
