About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Data Science Leader to join our Jet2 Data Science team. As a key member of our team, you will be empowered to lead the delivery of key data science initiatives capable of realising significant value.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of data science initiatives, combining insights gained from multiple large data sources with the contextual understanding and experience of our colleagues across the business.
  • Work with internal teams across the business to identify, collaborate with, and enthuse stakeholders across the wider group.
  • Line manage and coach data scientists, taking responsibility for and championing our ways of working, assisting the breakdown of initiatives into measurable tasks, monitoring progress in stand-ups, and reporting progress to the Data Science Management team.
  • Execute the application of machine learning and statistical modelling tools suited to the identified initiative, working with a pod of Data Scientists.
  • Develop and communicate clear data visualisations and recommendations on how the business can realise value from this work.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements throughout projects.
Requirements
  • Highly numerate with a statistical background, and strong expertise in Python.
  • Strong SQL skills, with exposure to Snowflake desirable, and the ability to create clear data visualisations in tools such as Tableau.
  • Experience in leading data science initiatives from concept into production and quantifying realised value.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms available for data science and storage desirable.
  • Ability to gather data from multiple sources, in multiple formats, and cleanse and enrich that data.
  • Appreciation of the importance of data governance, and of how to assess and enhance the quality of our data.
  • Commitment to keeping knowledge up to date through self-learning, and support for opportunities to complete relevant courses, attend industry events, and obtain technical certifications.
  • Ability to assist direct reports in their career and skill development.
