Overview of the Independent End-Point Assessor Role

The government has mandated that all apprenticeships include an end-point assessment (EPA), a comprehensive evaluation of the knowledge, skills, and behaviors (KSBs) acquired throughout the apprenticeship. This ensures apprentices meet rigorous employer standards and are fully prepared for their chosen careers.

As an Independent End-Point Assessor, you will play a crucial role in this process by:

  • Conducting impartial assessments of apprentice performance against the established apprenticeship standard.
  • Providing constructive feedback to apprentices and their training providers.
  • Ensuring assessments are conducted fairly, accurately, and in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality assessments that accurately reflect apprentice competence.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of the relevant apprenticeship standard and assessment plan.
  • Communicating effectively with apprentices, training providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhering to strict quality assurance procedures and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant qualification at or above the level you are assessing.
  • Experience of leading meetings, interviews, and discussions.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
