About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialty Doctor to join our team in the Department of Medicine of the Elderly at NHS Scotland. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in the perioperative care of older people in surgery and will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, contributing to service planning, and participating in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive geriatric assessment and management of frail older patients undergoing elective surgical procedures
  • Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and geriatricians to develop and implement proactive assessment and decision-making strategies for older patients
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of education and training programs for healthcare professionals
  • Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and care
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes
Requirements
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • At least four years' full-time postgraduate training in a specialty training program or equivalent experience
  • Strong interest in the perioperative care of older people in surgery
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
