Senior Accountant

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to support our client, a local government organisation, in the provision of accounting and reporting services for the authority's pension fund and treasury management functions.
The successful candidate will assist the Head of Pensions and Treasury in the preparation of pension fund annual accounts and treasury management notes to the organisation's statement of accounts.
The post holder will support the organisation's day-to-day pension fund and treasury management activities, including daily cashflow management and providing instructions and information to treasury advisors and pension fund service providers.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist and, when required, deputise for the Head of Pensions and Treasury in the efficient financial and investment management of the organisation's pension fund and treasury management functions.
- Ensure the general ledger for the pension fund and the treasury management functions are maintained and kept up to date regularly.
- Support the preparation of the pension fund's accounts, annual reports, treasury budgets setting and monitoring, including the preparation of treasury management notes to the organisation's statement of accounts.
- Undertake day-to-day cashflow management for the organisation, including short-term investing and borrowing transactions consistent with the approved Treasury Management Strategy Statement.
- Undertake the day-to-day investment activities for the Pension Fund, which include cashflow analysis, managing purchase orders and invoices, liaising and instructing investment managers and the custodian on the settlement and funding of transactions.
- Part qualification or membership of appropriate professional accounting or treasury body by examination, or evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience of working at a middle management position in finance or treasury, with evidence of having advised senior management on financial matters.
Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday
