Position Overview

PLANNED CARE DIVISION

FULL TIME - 10 Sessions Per Week/40 Hours

Working Schedule: 10 Programmed Activities weekly. A remarkable opportunity has emerged for a full-time Senior Consultant in Aesthetic Surgery to become part of a growing and innovative team of Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons.

The selected candidate will be expected to seamlessly integrate with the existing team of consultants to deliver a comprehensive Aesthetic Surgery service. The role includes a 1:5 on-call rota with support from junior medical staff on-site.

Key Responsibilities

The final job plan will be established through discussions between the successful candidate and the Lead Clinician in Aesthetic Surgery, Planned Care, and will be subject to Annual Review.

Primary Duties of the Role

The successful applicant will serve as a full-time Consultant in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The candidate will be expected to collaborate with the existing team of consultants to provide a holistic Aesthetic Surgery service. A significant portion of the elective work will involve skin cancer cases, alongside a busy hand trauma service. This position also includes some orthoplastic support for lower limb cases.

An interest in breast reconstruction, particularly microsurgery, as well as hand and trauma surgery, is essential to enhance the management of the Aesthetic Surgery and Reconstructive Service.

Candidate Specifications

Qualifications

Essential

  • FRCS (Plast) or an equivalent qualification.
  • GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery (or expected to obtain a relevant CCT/CESR within 6 months of interview).
  • Fellowship or equivalent experience in orthoplastic/lower limb trauma.

Desirable

  • Additional specialist fellowship.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive clinical experience in general Plastic surgery and independent management of skin cancer, along with experience in orthoplastic/lower limb trauma work.

Desirable

  • Other sub-interests such as breast, hand, or skin are also advantageous.

Teaching & Training Experience

Essential

  • Completion of a Training the Trainers Course.
  • Experience or interest in teaching.

Desirable

  • Additional teaching skill courses or qualifications.

Management & Administrative Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated use of Clinical Audit within the Service.
  • Evidence of research and application of evidence-based practice.

Desirable

  • Relevant experience in conducting and organizing Audits.
  • Research and publications pertinent to the role.

Personal Attributes

  • Understanding the significance of Management skills.
