About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils with varied Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a Primary School in Gateshead. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress, and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis in all lessons, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and PMLD.
  • Work alongside the Class Teacher to plan and deliver inspiring learning activities tailored to the needs and learning style of pupils.
  • Develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils within the classroom, working closely with Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.
  • Support across the School at breaktimes and lunchtimes as required.

The Primary School is an inspirational place to work, with a supportive culture and Leadership Team. Staff work together in classrooms to provide high standards of support to pupils. The School offers opportunities to support pupils across the School from EYFS-Year 6, depending on the experience and specialism of the successful applicant.

Pay, Hours, and Contract
  • Pay: Between £80-90 per day
  • Hours: 08.30-16.00
  • Contract: Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract.
  • Start Date: ASAP.
Requirements
  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Ability to drive and access to a car (desired)
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
