About the Role
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our established Moving and Handling Team. As a Patient Handling and Load Handling Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent training programs focused on patient handling and high-risk load handling skills for staff working at our Trust and in the wider Integrated Care System in Shropshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver classroom-based and workplace-based training, guidance, and support to ensure that patients are handled in accordance with best practice, and the risk of injury and ill-health to staff members is reduced.
- Undertake tasks in Trust clinical and non-clinical workplaces to support excellent handling practices.
- Collaborate with the Moving and Handling Advisors to provide expert advice on safe working practices to adults at work.
- Contribute to the development of training programs and materials to support the Trust's patient handling and load handling initiatives.
Requirements
- NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent prior training and experience.
- ROSPA Level 3 Award for Safer People Handling Trainers or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake the training in post.
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake the training in post.
- Proven relevant experience of working in an acute clinical setting, or domiciliary care including care homes and nursing homes.
- Experience of delivering and evaluating manual and patient handling training interventions for adults at work, or a willingness to undertake the training and development in post.
