Funding DetailsThe grant covers a significant portion of the project's economic costs, typically up to 80%, with an expectation that the total funding requested will be under £1 million. The funding period generally spans three years and can contribute to up to 50% of the applicant's salary.
Eligibility CriteriaTo qualify for this funding opportunity, applicants must:
- Demonstrate the necessary skills and experience to advance towards independence.
- Receive backing from a recognized research organization eligible for funding.
- Showcase their capability to lead the proposed project intellectually.
- Focus their application on the domain of population and systems medicine.
Applicants who are currently in postdoctoral roles or hold junior fellowships may apply, provided they do not have ongoing contracts with their chosen host organization. The program encourages diverse participation and is open to researchers with varying levels of experience.
Ineligibility CriteriaIndividuals who have already attained independence through substantial grant income or have previously held awards facilitating this transition are not eligible. Additionally, those with pending applications for UKRI fellowships are also excluded from applying.
