We are looking for a Senior Clinical Microbiology Consultant to enhance our Infection Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This position requires providing expert clinical and scientific guidance on microbiological assessments, interpretation of results, and recommending suitable therapeutic options while supporting Infection Prevention and Control initiatives.

Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Education
Essential Requirements
- Honours degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Postgraduate qualification in a pertinent field
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist
- Completion of Higher Specialist Scientific Training in microbiology
- Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in Microbiology
Knowledge & Experience
Essential Requirements
- Extensive clinical experience and proficiency
- In-depth knowledge of clinical microbiology
- Hands-on experience in microbiology laboratories
- Ability to interpret microbiological results accurately
- Competence in using PC applications and laboratory information systems
Desirable Attributes
- Experience in overseeing and managing microbiology departments
