Key ResponsibilitiesThe Fire Safety Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Managing and supporting all fire safety initiatives on site.
- Developing and revising Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring that mitigation strategies are integrated into fire safety plans and emergency procedures.
- Conducting regular reviews of fire safety measures, at least on a quarterly basis, and ensuring updates are communicated effectively.
- Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
- Ensuring that all fire safety protocols, standards, and site plans are understood and followed by all personnel on site.
- Overseeing weekly inspections of fire safety equipment, detection systems, and alarm mechanisms, ensuring proper documentation by the Fire Safety Coordinators.
- Regularly inspecting escape routes, access points for emergency services, and fire-fighting facilities.
- Monitoring compliance with the established site fire safety plan.
- Maintaining records of fire equipment and ensuring its upkeep.
- Coordinating weekly fire alarm tests and site safety checks, documenting results as per established protocols.
- Facilitating fire drills at required intervals across all operational platforms.
- Managing the procedures for contacting emergency services in the event of a fire.
- Providing the Fire and Rescue Service with essential information, including:
- Designated emergency escape routes and staircases.
- Locations of fire points and hydrants.
- Details of temporary structures and storage areas.
Additionally, the Fire Safety Coordinator will:
- Oversee the completion of weekly fire safety inspections, ensuring findings are documented and retained.
- Ensure that electrical and gas systems are properly isolated during emergencies.
- Verify that all installed fire safety systems, including tunnel fire mains and smoke curtains, are regularly tested and recorded.
- Collaborate closely with the fire safety team to ensure adherence to the Principal Contractor's requirements.
- Manage fire safety performance against established health and safety scoring criteria, ensuring monthly compliance.
- Participate in daily and weekly fire safety meetings with relevant stakeholders to promote a unified approach to fire safety across the project.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid CSCS card with relevant fire safety qualifications.
- Up-to-date technical knowledge in fire safety practices.
- A minimum of the NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or an equivalent qualification.
- NVQ Level 6 in Fire Safety or be actively working towards it.
We are looking for a dedicated professional who is committed to maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.
