Consultant Adult Community Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Adult Community Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham. As a key member of our diagnostic team, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive diagnostic histopathology service for the Trust.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular pathology and experience in reporting activity for cases referred to the department. You will work closely with our clinical scientists and senior BMS to interpret NGS, Real-time PCR tests, and molecular immunohistochemistry reporting for various types of tumours.

As a Consultant Adult Community Specialist, you will be supported by a strong and experienced specialist reporting team. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, audit, and continuing professional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a comprehensive diagnostic histopathology service for the Trust
  • Reporting activity for cases referred to the department
  • Interpreting NGS, Real-time PCR tests, and molecular immunohistochemistry reporting
  • Contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, audit, and continuing professional development
  • Working closely with clinical scientists and senior BMS

Requirements:

  • Full and Specialist Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a License to Practice
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (or evidence of equivalent qualification)
  • Higher specialist training in area relevant to post
