Job Title: Investment Manager, Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced Investment Manager to join our team at UK Research and Innovation, responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of projects within our Infrastructure portfolio.

About the Role

This is a fixed-term position that will play a key role in supporting the team at a busy and exciting time for the infrastructure portfolio. As an Investment Manager, you will provide strategic support and lead the development of projects, with a particular focus on the 'World Class Labs' programme, which invests in institutional and regional research facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work strategically with the Head of Infrastructure and other Senior Investment Managers to ensure effective implementation of portfolio work packages and realise the benefits from previous investments.
  • Contribute to the team's response to data and impact story requests as we develop our Spending review submission.
  • Oversee previous World Class Labs investments and support the scoping and development of future funding opportunities, including Creative Research Capability grant holder management and benefits realisation.
  • Manage engagement with other teams within the AHRC, infrastructure teams in other Councils in UKRI, and the external research community.
  • Pro-actively support the collection, analysis, and interpretation of information contributing to understanding and narratives about the value and impact of AHRC-funded research.
  • Develop strategic relationships with Higher Education Institutions, Independent Research Organisations, the UK and international research community, other research funders, and wider partners.
Requirements

We are looking for an experienced professional with a good understanding of the UK higher education system and/or experience in higher education administration, research administration, the heritage sector, digital humanities, the creative industries, or a similar environment.

You will need to have experience of managing successful large-scale projects and programmes of work, including budget management, and be able to build productive working relationships internally and externally, at all levels of seniority and across academic, policy, and wider sectors.

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline is essential, and you will need to have experience giving presentations, leading workshops, and influencing discussions for various stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who can develop understanding of a new subject, issue, or project quickly and be able to solve problems and make effective decisions, sometimes in a challenging environment.
