Position Overview:
The Head of Bioinformatics will collaborate closely with the Operations, Research & Development, and commercial divisions to deliver informatics support for current market assays and aid in the creation and execution of new assays, technologies, and data products tailored to customer needs.
Role Expectations:
This position requires bridging the fields of translational cancer research, pharmaceutical development, and software engineering, providing leadership and clear communication to support a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design and development of computational genomics workflows.
2. Create innovative analytical tools for diagnostics.
3. Mentor laboratory teams to enhance their capabilities.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. or MSc in life, physical, or computer science, or a BS with substantial supervisory experience. A minimum of ten years of laboratory or technical experience is essential, including managing teams of Bioinformaticians, Bioinformatics Scientists, and Software Engineers.
Technical Skills:
Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing production-scale next-generation sequencing analysis pipelines for oncology and germline analysis. Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, various programming languages such as R, Python, Java, C, C++, and Perl, along with experience handling large cohort datasets and NGS sequencing platforms, is crucial.
