Employment: Full time - Monday to Friday

Pay: £120.00 per day + holiday pay

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a specialism in managing and supporting children with challenging behaviour in a primary education setting. The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support and assistance within the classroom, helping to create a positive and productive learning environment for all students. An openness to new training opportunities is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • One-to-One Support: Work closely with individual students who exhibit challenging behaviours, providing tailored assistance to help them engage with the curriculum and develop positive behaviour patterns.
  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in managing the classroom environment, ensuring that all students, including those with behavioural challenges, can participate fully in lessons.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support children in overcoming barriers to learning.
  • Individualised Education Plans (IEPs): Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs for students with behavioural challenges, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborative Work: Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to managing and supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress, incidents, and any interventions applied.
  • Training and Development: Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in managing challenging behaviour in educational settings.
  • Supportive Environment: Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of all students.
  • Cover Supervisor responsibility may be required
  • May be two to one with SEN students
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children exhibiting challenging behaviour in a primary school setting is essential.
  • Education: A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
    • Effective behaviour management techniques.
    • Patience, empathy, and resilience.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Training: Willingness to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school culture.

  • Specialist Training: Additional qualifications or training in behaviour management, special educational needs (SEN), or therapeutic approaches.
  • Flexibility: Ability to adapt strategies and approaches to meet the changing needs of students.
  • Innovative: Creativity in developing new approaches to engage and support students with challenging behaviours.
