Department Overview
The Safety Product Testing team is dedicated to evaluating a diverse array of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global clientele, ensuring that all products adhere to essential safety standards.
The types of PPE assessed include, but are not limited to, gloves, fall protection gear, motorcycle apparel, high visibility clothing, eyewear, helmets, hearing protection, chainsaw protective wear, kneepads, and sports safety equipment.
The department is equipped with several accredited laboratories, featuring advanced testing apparatus and machinery utilized by our team to evaluate the physical characteristics of PPE in accordance with international and European regulations.
Results from these evaluations are communicated to clients and play a crucial role in their product development processes or in obtaining necessary certifications.
Role Responsibilities
The primary focus of this position is on the Fall Protection PPE sector, which entails coordinating the testing of various items such as harnesses, lanyards, connectors, and anchors designed for elevated work environments. There may also be opportunities to engage with other PPE categories as needed.
As a PPE Safety Testing Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding and interpreting international standards for PPE testing.
- Scheduling testing activities and providing clear instructions to technicians.
- Drafting electronic reports and conveying results to clients.
- Addressing customer inquiries and technical questions, while offering quotations and support.
- Delivering training and assistance to technicians.
- Participating in client visits both on-site and off-site.
- Conducting audits of client production control processes.
- Occasionally performing tests that may involve working at heights.
- Engaging in seminars, webinars, and attending trade exhibitions.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, with a minimum grade of C.
- A valid driving license and passport, with the ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Strong organizational skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- A meticulous approach to following testing protocols and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- A keen attention to detail, especially when entering data electronically and completing documentation.
Desirable Experience
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Industrial roof construction and factory auditing.
- Working at height and fall protection PPE.
- Forklift operation.
- Familiarity with quality systems and standards (ISO 17025).
- Understanding of mechanics and physics.
Training
