Position Overview

Role Summary

We are excited to present an opportunity for a Site Operations Engineering Lead to join a prominent player in the specialty food sector.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader capable of swiftly implementing effective strategies to oversee a site Maintenance division, while fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement across their area of influence. This role is integral to the Site Leadership Team and reports directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee a comprehensive preventative maintenance strategy for the facility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance activities within the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and availability in collaboration with production teams.
  • Manage utility operations effectively.
  • Guarantee that all maintenance tasks and equipment are handled safely and efficiently, adhering to necessary standards and protocols.
  • Plan, organize, and delegate tasks within areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise the development and maintenance of staff competencies.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations among staff and contractors.
  • Prepare and present a detailed annual budget covering all relevant expenditures.
  • Develop and monitor formal control systems to manage repair costs and spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering teams to design, plan, and execute Capital Improvement Projects, ensuring timely completion and realization of expected benefits.
  • Act as a champion for Health and Safety, ensuring adherence to quality, health, and safety standards.
  • Perform administrative tasks consistent with the responsibilities of this role.

Candidate Profile:

  • 3-5 years of relevant managerial experience in a food production environment.
  • Professionally qualified engineer.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems. Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and resolve issues effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems.
  • Experience with computerized preventative maintenance systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong presence on the production floor, with the ability to engage effectively with personnel at all levels.
  • Commitment to excellence and adherence to company values.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and achieve results through collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Technical expertise in engineering management, quality assurance, and cost management.
  • Sound judgment with the capacity to make timely and informed decisions.
